Lovely property with all amenities you'd need. Plenty of space, with a beautiful open plan living room opening onto the garden. All bedrooms were a good size, as we're the bathrooms. Plenty of local walks for the dog. Hosts we're very welcoming and helpful. Everything you'd want.

Wester Den has everything that makes this a home from home. It is a beautiful luxury 3 bedroom house set in a lovely location, close to Arbroath’s amenities yet gives you a country feel. The glass roofing over the patio provides shelter on windy days and allows you to use the bbq even on rainy days. Sheila and John are perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble and they provide lots of information on places to visit/eat based on their own experiences. Arbroath has lots to offer from cliff top walks to white sandy beaches (highly recommend Lunan Bay and St Cyrus). The lighthouse museum and Abbey are well worth visits too and a fish supper by the harbour is a must. Lots of local fish shops selling ‘smokies’ and other fresh fish and seafood. Angus is a hidden gem, not too many tourists but has a lot that the more popular Highlands has to offer. Glen Clova is a stunning glen not far away and there are many interesting villages and small towns. If you visit spring/summer you have to try the local strawberries. Infact there is a lot of great quality local produce and you might even get to sample some during your visit to Wester Den!! This was our second visit and certainly won’t be our last. Great long weekend with friends and the 2 dogs. Shirley and John have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. Accommodation is amazing and of a very high standard. The welcome pack of locally sourced produce was great and even included treats for the dogs. The dogs loved the enclosed garden and there are great walks nearby. We will def be booking again and will be recommending Wester Den to family and friends.

We are back home after a lovely stay at Western Den. Shirley and John couldn’t do anymore for us throughout our stay. The property is amazing, allowing all of us including 5 small dogs to enjoy the holiday.

Just back from a great stay at Wester Den. This is our third time. Wester Den is perfect in every way. Just didn't want to leave. Shirley and John have thought of everything you could possibly need and are courteous and friendly. Beds are so comfortable. The place is spotless. Everything perfect, would go back tomorrow and never leave if I could.

Just back from our third stay at Wester Den and already looking at dates for next time. We love the location, lots of fab walks on your doorstep, love the house itself, absolutely first class in every way. First time we've been able to use the log burner, was much appreciated after some breezy walks!! Shirley and John are excellent hosts and really good the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need, and more. The welcome home message for our dog was a lovely touch too🥰Thank you, hope to see you again soon.

Fab weekend with our 2 dogs. Spotlessly clean. Both furnishings and appliances were all to a high standard The hosts have put together a really slick App that's available which gives all the information you could need. We (and our 2 and 4 legged family) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wester Den. It is an excellent property and the interior design and fittings were beautiful. It was so clean and tidy- it was like a new house! Your customer care and attention to detail was excellent! We have stayed in numerous self catering dog friendly cottages (we always take our dogs on holiday with us) in Scotland and Northumberland- yours is one of the very best we have stayed in!
We hope to return in the future and we will definitely be highly recommending Wester Den to our friends /family.

Magical Christmas week at Wester Den despite the turbulent weather. A spacious well laid out house that still managed to feel cosy - it was very clean, finished to a high standard and came supplied with a generous welcome basket. The log burner just made the experience extra special. Would definitely recommend!

We were so lucky with the weather for our stay at Wester Den in early November and made the most of the fabulous covered area and BBQ though I suspect even when wet, it's still a lovely area to use. We were 3 couples with 2 dogs and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The beds were extremely comfortable and having soap and shampoo provided was a welcome perk. The house was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed (including extra blankets to use outside). Communication and local advice , such as how to access free tickets for the HES Arbroath Abbey, with Shirley was great. We have already recommended the house to others and we plan to return again to explore the area further and will liaise with Shirley to coincide with some local Farmers Markets too :0)

Just returned from a long weekend at Wester Den. Excellent standard of accommodation, high quality beds and bedding and massive TV with Sky. For us a great location in the country for peace and quiet but only five minutes away from supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. Dog friendly as well with a totally fenced in back garden looking on to open countryside. The helpful owners live next door and are responsive to any questions or requests. All in all a very pleasant experience, the owners even watched our dog to allow us to go for Sunday lunch.

just back from a stay at Wester Den. there were 4 adults and 3 dogs. The communication from Shirley was great prior to arrival. we were met on arrival and shown around the stunning property. lovely location as you feel out of the way but very close to local amenities.
The house itself is beautiful and everything is finished to the highest standard. We received a lovely welcome pack from local suppliers. A great place for chilling and the outside space is amazing and can be used all year round.
We will definitely be back and was the well needed break that we all needed...including the dogs!!!

Another amazing few days at Wester Den. Already planning our trip for next year. The house is immaculately clean and so well laid out. Great having the garden for the dogs too and the covered area. Shirley and John are excellent hosts. We appreciated all the wee extras in the welcome pack too from bread to brownies and more - even a bag of dog treats.

Had a lovely week at Westerden. The house was spotless and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - so did our dogs. Some lovely walks nearby - Arbroath Cliffs were stunning and very dramatic (keep dogs in lead though). The welcome pack was lovely and all local produce - the Artisana brownies were amazing!
Our hosts were very friendly and couldn’t do enough.
All in all a great week - one suggestion would be a hose outside for the dogs. We visited during a particularly wet week and were a bit worried coming back to the house with wet and muddy dogs trying to get them clean before entering the house.
We would definitely come back to Westerden and would highly recommend it.

Just back from an amazing stay at Wester Den. The house is absolutely stunning, with everything you need and more. The beautiful view and outdoor area is a real bonus and so sheltered you can use in any weather. Shirley and John were amazing hosts and make sure you have everything you need and are on hand for tips and recommendations for things to do in the area. Would highly recommend a trip if to Wester Den and are already looking forward to a return visit.

My partner and I spent 3 lovely nights at Wester Den, the house was clean, warm and had everything we needed. The covered area outside was perfect for cosy nights watching the sun go down, even when it was raining. We will definitely be back :)

I found Wester Den to be a very modern, spacious and clean property. Well equipped kitchen and utilities meant we did not have to leave the home for the entirety of our stay! The summer months allowed us to make full use of the outdoor patio which overlooks stunning views, and I can imagine even during the colder months this could also be enjoyed with the blankets Shirley has provided for extra comfort! Shirley was a very welcoming, friendly and attentive host. I appreciated her regular communication before, during and after our stay. Shirley was very accommodating and was extremely hospitable! I would recommend Wester Den to friends and family, a 5* venue for a very enjoyable stay. Thanks for having us, we hope to visit again soon!

Wow this place is beautiful. On arrival there was parking directly outside the door, making it easy to unload our cases. The owner was there to show us round the property, they live next door and are on hand if there are any queries, but you wouldn’t know they were there unless you knocked on the door to speak to them. They were very pleasant, friendly, approachable and helpful. Never have I stayed in such a spotlessly clean accommodation, even the chrome was polished to a sparking shine. There is a large outside, covered seating area, so you can still sit outside even when it rains, the view is nothing but far reaching fields with birds to entertain you with their antics. It was really peaceful and quiet all the time. There is a giant gas barbecue. The large outside table and seating was really comfortable. In the living room the leather sofas and chairs were super comfortable, with a reclining armchair. The TV is huge, it was like being in a cinema. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped, it has a dish washer, fridge freezer, microwave washing machine and every utensil you could wish for, the worktops are beautiful sparkling white granite, there is a large table and bench area right next to the kitchen. There was a lovely welcome basket when we arrived with lots of useful items. Downstairs there is a super king sized bed, this was extremely comfortable and had lovely white bedding, I sunk into the bed slept like a log. There was a very large walk in wardrobe and en suite bathroom adjoining this bedroom. There are 2 other double bedrooms, one with a balcony, but we didn’t need to use them. The upstairs bathroom has a large, deep free standing bath, it was lovely to have a relaxing soak after a day sightseeing. The double shower has the most powerful power shower I have ever used. This place provides more extras than you would expect in a 5 star hotel. There was a hairdryer, baby bath, high chair, cleaning equipment, cordless vacuum, ironing board shower gel, hand cream, white fluffy dressing gowns, games and books. There are lots of beautiful scenic walks just a very short drive from Westerden, the beach walks have interesting rock formation and there was dolphins swimming in the sea. The accommodation feels very remote while staying there, but there is plenty of shops, takeaways, cafes, restaurants just a few minutes drive. This place is very relaxing and quiet with everything you could possibly need for an active holiday or just relaxing. My dogs loved the place, they had their beds under the outside covered terrace and slept after very energetic walks on the beach and parks. Dogs are not allowed in the bedrooms or on the furniture, therefore this place was spotlessly clean and didn’t smell like dirty dogs had been there. It was a welcome change to have luxury accommodation that allows dogs to stay. There was just 2 of us, but this place is very spacious and well equipped for a large family. I felt very refreshed and relaxed after staying here and will definitely return.

We've enjoyed our second stay here and Wester Den did not disappoint! It's in a fab location, lots within walking distance (and lots of great dog walks on the doorstep too). Or the patio is just perfect for a lazy day and a BBQ. Shirley and John are the perfect hosts and all the little touches make it an extra special place to stay. We're hoping to book visit number 3 very soon.

An absolutely stunning house, in a beautiful countryside setting. It’s so peaceful that it’s hard to believe that it’s just on the outskirts of Arbroath. Shirley and John are the most welcoming hosts. We would highly recommend staying here, and will definitely be returning.

Wester Den is a beautiful fully equipped house in a wonderful location; close to Arbroath and its amenities but surrounded by farmland. Sheila and John are wonderful hosts, with nothing too much trouble. The house was spotless when we arrived and were welcomed with a lovely box of local fare - the chocolate brownies were to die for!
We were very lucky with the weather but having outdoor seating under cover means you can still enjoy a BBQ and sundowner if the weather is not so good. There is lots of information in the visitor book on lovely local walks, beaches, coastal paths, and dog friendly places to eat. Angus is a well kept secret with lots to do locally and slightly further afield. Lunan Bay is a must visit, beautiful white sands, sand dunes and emerald clear water. The dogs had a great time swimming (too cold for us hoomans!) and playing on the beach.
Highly recommend Marco’s chippy at Arbroath harbour, nothing better than indulging in a fish supper and watching the sunset. The signal tower museum is worth a visit and is free.
Lots of wildlife around especially seabirds who were nesting on the cliffs and Swallows nesting in the roof. Managed to see fox and deer on the trail camera.
This was our first visit to Wester Den but will not be our last.

Great stay, fantastic place with top amenities. Clean, charming and even our dog found it very easy to settle in and be comfortable. Communication with Shirley before and during the stay was excellent and the little hamper of local goods was hugely appreciated. The strawberries were a delight! :) Will definitely stay again!

We have just had the most amazing week at Wester Den. Everything you could wish for under one roof, the enclosed garden area was beautiful & perfect for the dogs. We even got sunshine on most days which made it perfect for sitting outside & enjoying the BBQ. The place was spotless when we arrived & the welcome pack was full of fresh local products. Shirley & John were so welcoming & helped us loads with recommendations in the area and were there immediately if we needed anything. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone & we can’t wait to return! Thank you so much, one of the best places we have ever stayed.

Just had a fabulous week at Westerden, Shirley and John were the best hosts.
The house is absolutely stunning and perfect for our family trip with two dogs! The dogs loved the garden and so many walks straight from the house.
The highlight was Lunan beach and a paddle in the sea. We ate at a different restaurant every night via just eat deliveries! didn’t cook much but the kitchen was kitted out with everything you could think of and a lovely welcome basket of treats.
Lots of space and definitely will return. Thanks again!

Just back from a 4 night stay at Wester Den Holiday Home in Arbroath. Cannot recommend it highly enough. After 12 years of dog ownership we were fed up of seeing dog friendly accommodation that really was not nice. Well, please check this place out - it was beautiful. A wee welcome pack with local produce and a fantastic grassed area (all completely fenced) for the dog to wander .... what is there not to like.

Shirley was a wonderful host. Very attentive and helpful. The home itself is stunning, we knew it was lovely by the pictures but they don’t do it justice. Everything was so clean, we had everything we needed. Views were gorgeous, Shirley left a little welcome pack of rolls, jam and homemade brownies which was such a lovely touch. Pre arrival Shirley kept us well informed and responded to queries quickly. The house is as described and matches the pictures. It was cosy and comfortable. The beds were really comfortable and we slept well. The outdoor space is great although our weather meant we couldn’t really use it. Kitchen well equipped. Everywhere was spotless. Log fire was superb and Shirley provided plenty logs. Shirley was a perfect host, so helpful. Highly recommended !

The house is a fantastic, modern space with everything you need for a perfect getaway. The outdoor space is amazing. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use the BBQ but it was huge and looked fab. Decor was lovely, beds and sofas comfortable. Close to local amenities and lots of parking. Lots of communication prior to check in with all the info we needed.

Myself and my family are just back from a 3 night stay at Wester Den and WOW this is an exceptional example of an airbnb. Shirley's communication from start to finish was very friendly and clear with any information or instructions given. The accommodation was absolutely pristine clean throughout and has everything you need for your stay and lovely thoughtful welcome gifts for ourselves and our dog. The view is beautiful and its a lovely peaceful location. My son is a wheelchair user which meant the ground floor bedroom was perfect and a very good size with more than enough room for turning around and a very large walk in dressing room could also be accessed in the wheelchair, the downstairs space is fully accessible throughout and also access to the garden is made easy with large doors either from the lounge or downstairs bedroom and entering the house from the main door is completely flat. So if you are thinking of staying here i would highly recommend this 5 star accommodation 😀

Just had a lovely week stay at Wester Den. What a beautiful, very well equipped, comfortable house.
Shirley is a wonderful thoughtful host. Great communication before our stay, offered a very warm welcome and was on hand if required (which we didn't - as we had everything we could wish for!)
The house was warm and cozy, unfortunately January weather didn't allow us to fully enjoy the outside space and BBQ but if staying in warmer this would be a terrific additional social space.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Wester Den!!

Trip away for a few restful days to Shirley and John’s place with my parents and 2 kids. The accommodation was a great place for relaxing with great spaces in the 3 bedrooms, living and kitchen area. The weather didn’t allow us to utilise the outdoor space but inside was nice and cosy. It’s in a good location out of town however still easy access in and out as required. Shirley and John were very responsive and helpful before and throughout our stay. Great place.

John greeted us as we arrived at Wester Den, so helpful and friendly. We really appreciated the milk and little box of treats (and dog treats) after a long drive. The house is amazing, so spacious, absolutely immaculate, clean and has everything you can think of. So well equipped including hairdryers, cute dog bed and towel. It is a stunning design, cosy but private and so much bigger than expected, big enough to not feel like you're on top of each other staying in a holiday home. The surroundings are just beautiful, lovely to have an outdoor space and garden. It really felt like home and the recommendations were great as was the hospitality. I combined working in Arbroath with a short stay and really glad we did as it gave me chance to relax - the beds were so comfortable as well and the quality of everything couldn't be better, as good as a 5* hotel. I hope to be back in the future.

What an amazing place to spend some precious few days over Christmas with the family. Shirley and John were fantastic hosts and even let us book in a wee bit earlier to put our presents in. Great accommodation, immaculate and so spacious with everything you need for a break. We will definitely be back very very soon. Wester Den certainly lived up to the Vbro details. Everything about it was braw, super relaxing wee break and with our dog which is the way we like it. Shirley was very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble.

What a place! Way more than what I'd expect for a few days getaway. The furniture and amenities are more consistent with a 5 star hotel. Really comfy beds, really nice kitchen and dining area, great shower and a huge smart TV. The local area is really quiet but only a couple minutes to some local shops. Perfect!

The house was immaculate and had many lovely finishing touches, even for our dog. We were welcomed and were checked upon to ensure everything was to high standards which it absolutely was. The house itself has a great lay out and so much space from seating areas, bedrooms and storage. The garden is very big and private with an outside covered seating area and a huge BBQ so lots of outside space to utilise in the better weather. The location itself is quiet and not far from the beach to walk along where is a great park for the kids and not far to get to Dundee and Carnoustie. Highly recommend.
